Beacon Wind has the potential generating capacity of approximately 2.5GW, sufficient to power the equivalent of approximately 1 million homes across the northeastern United States upon completion. The project is exploring concepts that, subject to project completion, could potentially deliver power as early as the middle of the next decade.

JERA Nex bp is the 100% owner and developer of the Beacon Wind project located in federal waters between Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Long Island, New York.

Fisheries and mariners

JERA Nex bp and Beacon Wind are dedicated to working with commercial and recreational stakeholders. We are actively engaging with fishermen in the project area to gain insight and perspective about how our industries can collaborate together to bring renewable energy to the region. Beacon Wind’s Fisheries Liaison and Industry Expert will assist in addressing questions and concerns, as well as distributing project updates, news, and information. The Fisheries Team at Beacon Wind is highly qualified and experienced, possessing a wide range of fisheries-related knowledge and relationships.

Environment and sustainability

We seek to minimize Beacon Wind’s impact on the environment by collaborating with conservation and preservation groups, fisheries, front-line and tribal communities, and others. We are committed to best practices to mitigate environmental and social impacts from the development of renewable energy in the Beacon Wind lease area. We believe in the cooperative coexistence of offshore wind development with wildlife.

There is no construction occurring yet in the Beacon Wind lease area.

A resilient, sustainable and competitive supply chain is vital to meeting the increasing demand for OFW. JERA Nex bp creates a world class platform of operating assets and a development pipeline which creates material scale and expertise, which we look to leverage to develop long term relationships in the supply chain. We see our supply chain partners as critical to the success of our projects and the IJV going forward.
