Ishikari Bay

JERA Nex bp owns Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm, ‘Ishikari Bay’, in partnership with the Green Power Investment Corporation (GPI). The wind farm was developed by GPI over many years and is the largest offshore wind farm in Japan as of the commencement of its commercial operation. It was inaugurated in April 2024.

Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm

Located in Hokkaido’s Ishikari Bay New Port, the wind farm has 14 wind turbines manufactured by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy each of which has a capacity of 8MW, and its total capacity is 112MW. All electric power generated is supplied to Hokkaido Electric Power Network, Inc. (“HEPN”) after being routed through a project substation with 180MWh of battery storage capacity – a distinguishing feature of the wind farm – and then through HEPN’s Nishi Sapporo Substation.
