Europe
With our global headquarters in London and a long-standing presence in Leuven, Europe is a key market for JERA Nex bp.
We have a rich heritage in the North Sea, through operating pioneering projects in Belgium where we have generated offshore wind energy since 2010, as well as in the UK and Germany. In the Irish and North Seas, our teams are progressing the Morgan, Mona and Morven projects in partnership with EnBW, with a potential generating capacity of 5.9GW.
We continue our pioneering spirit through the development of Sørlige Nordsjø II, the first major offshore wind project on the Norwegian continental shelf. In Ireland, the Oriel project is in the planning stages, and in Germany, we have secured the rights to develop two further projects – Oceanbeat East and Oceanbeat West – with a combined potential generating capacity of 4GW.
Japan
We are an offshore wind pioneer in Japan, with our Asia Headquarters in Tokyo, and a portfolio of operational and development assets. JERA Nex bp owns the Ishikari Bay New Port Offshore Wind Farm in partnership with the Green Power Investment Corporation (GPI) – the largest operational offshore wind farm in Japan. We are harnessing this expertise to progress a healthy pipeline of large-scale offshore projects following a number of auction wins in recent years.
Asia Pacific
Our teams in Australia and New Zealand are developing two significant projects – Blue Mackerel and Spinifex.
Blue Mackerel is an offshore wind farm in Australia with a potential generating capacity of 1GW. It is positioned to be one of the first offshore wind projects to supply sustainable energy to Australian homes and industry. Spinifex, a proposed offshore wind farm of approximately 1GW+ (potential generative capacity) off the coast of South West Victoria, Australia, is being developed with our partner, Alinta Energy. Spinifex has the potential to supply around 10 per cent of Victoria’s electricity needs.
Together with joint venture partners, we also operate the Formosa 1 and Formosa 2 projects, which have been critical to supporting Taiwan’s green energy transition.
United States
Our US team is focused on the Beacon Wind project, which we became the lead developer and 100% owner of in April 2024. Beacon Wind 1 and 2 comprise a combined area of 128,000 acres in federal waters between Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Long Island, New York. The combined potential generating capacity of the projects is expected to be in excess of 2.5GW.
